Dennis Brooks, President/Principal

BrooksWeb 07Dennis Brooks – Dennis obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Construction Management from Colorado State University, one of the country’s leading Construction Management schools. Courses of study included structural, civil and soils engineering, architecture, construction and business management. Dennis graduated in December of 1978 with a Masters of Science degree, with the emphasis on Construction and Business Management. Since that time he has constructed buildings for companies such as Levitz Furniture, Safeway, Mutual of Omaha, W.T. Grant, IBM, K-Mart, Orchard Supply Hardware, House of Fabrics, Kragen Auto Parts, Marriott Corporation, and many others across Colorado, California, Wyoming, Arizona and Montana.

Dennis is a licensed general contractor and a member of Western Regional Master Builders Association, three chapters of the Community Associations Institute and the California Association of Community Managers. He established Design Build Associates in 1983 and has developed it into the well-respected firm that it is today. His emphasis has always been on building a reputable company that can take pride in the success of each project completed. Dennis continues to work toward developing the company, as well as its employees, in such a manner as to represent the ideals and goals he has always upheld.

Under his leadership today, Design Build Associates provides consulting services to a myriad of clients. Dennis continually seeks new opportunities to expand the company’s influence and provide a strong and distinguished service delivered with integrity to all clientele.

Les Jillson, Vice-President/Principal

JillsonLesWeb 16Les Jillson – Les has been involved in the construction industry since 1969, and worked as a licensed general contractor for over thirty years. He is also a member of Western Regional Master Builders Association, Community Associations Institute and California Association of Community Managers.

Les’ general contracting business was originally centered in the Pasadena/Los Angeles area and was responsible for the construction of custom luxury homes and extensive residential remodels, and also included medical office buildings, medical facilities, office buildings, retail stores, private school facilities, The Pasadena Boy’s Club, the YMCA of San Fernando, Los Angeles Toyota, various churches, the complete renovation and restoration of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses office building, numerous condominium projects and several residential housing tracts.

In 1999, Les Jillson and Dennis Brooks became partners, specializing exclusively as Construction Managers and Consultants, offering consulting services to clients.

Skip Bing

Skip’s experience in the areas of estimating and purchasing as well as existing property renovation complement the construction quality and cost management services that DBA provides.  His attention to detail and ability to methodically review construction documents and identify potential problems and concerns before they become major issues have proven to be a huge asset.  Skip’s background constructing single family custom homes, high-rise, mixed-use and commercial construction brings a unique breadth of experience to the team.  He has actively participated on the boards of numerous master and sub HOAs, acting as president and builder’s representative, and has a thorough understanding of how HOAs function.

Dale Meredith

Dale heads up our Orange County office and has become a major asset to the team and to our clients. His wide-ranging experience complements the construction quality and cost management services DBA provides. He is well-versed in contract negotiations, project estimating, and document review, with a keen eye to keeping projects on schedule and within budget. Dale’s outstanding communication, and interpersonal skills and ability to interact with construction professionals, clients and homeowners develops and builds strategic relationships, which ultimately leads to a successful project completion. Dale has a Bachelor of Science Industrial Technology/Building Construction – Continuing education includes Certificate in Construction Practices, San Diego State University, numerous construction management courses at UCSD and UCI Extension programs.

Phil Silver

Phil has taken the lead on numerous projects for Design Build Associates, including successfully completing a high-rise project which the original general contractor abandoned; he subsequently assisted the HOA in obtaining a judgement against that contractor.  He is completing a roofing project for a 132-building complex, and oversaw the installation of new swing stage facade maintenance equipment for a 19-story high-rise.  Phil brings an extensive background in multi-family and mixed-use construction to the team and to our clients. His 30 years of experience complements the construction quality and cost management services DBA provides.  He has a background in general contracting, development and consulting.  Phil holds a Continuing Education Certificate in Construction Management (UCLA Extension).

Mark Shear

Before joining Design Build Associates Mark owned his own business which specialized in HOA and multi-family property management services.  He subsequently joined a mixed-use construction firm which provided him with experience in commercial development projects.  Mark’s construction and project management background ties in nicely with his HOA management experience to bring a special understanding of an Association’s needs navigating remedial repairs.  Mark has a Construction Management certificate from UCLA Extension and a bachelors degree in business management.

K.C. Mollé

KC Molle #2KC is our Office Manager/Human Resources Generalist. Her background includes having worked for large general contractors, subcontractors and real estate developers. KC maintains and organizes our office operations and procedures, and handles our accounts payable and accounts receivable. She assists management in establishing and implementing office procedures and human resources policies, programs and practices, and disseminating the information to the staff.  Her attention to detail and her accounting and wordsmithing skills make KC a valuable asset to our team.
