This was a new and exciting project for the City of Pasadena. We built this 10,000+ square foot two-story private school for the Frostig Learning Center. We also constructed all the interior specialty classrooms as well as all the interior millwork finishes. The ground floor was dedicated to classrooms and the second floor was for administrative offices and a library. The Frostig Center is a non-profit organization that specializes in working with children who have learning disabilities. The Center houses an internationally recognized research department whose research is widely published in leading professional journals. The Center also provides on-site academic instruction for 100 students ranging from 1st to 12th grade, evaluation and consultation for over 800 children, after-school tutoring and summer workshops for an additional 150 children, and ongoing training for over 1,000 professionals each year. The Center provides services to children, families and professionals throughout the greater Los Angeles area. Center staff totals approximately 100, and consists of researchers, credentialed teachers, licensed therapists, administrators, para-professionals and support staff.
California P.E.O. Home operates Marguerite Gardens, a continuing care retirement community located in a residential neighborhood of Alhambra, California. Residents enjoy convenient services and the privacy of personal apartment living, knowing that trusted health care services are available right on campus. Our involvement included the addition to a new two-story facility on campus with full basement and ambulatory elevator access to the new assisted living quarters.
The original construction of this old Spanish style church dates back to 1921. Over the years, many administrative offices and classrooms were added to the church property. There was no continuity with the work that had been performed in the past, and the church was seriously under-maintained. We worked with the church staff in renovating the administrative offices and remodeling of the church interior, including the exterior. The church property of what is now Old Town Monrovia is on the corner of Lime and Myrtle in the City of Monrovia.
This is the headquarters of the administrative offices for the personnel who organize the annual Rose Parade in Pasadena, California. The original structure is an Italian Renaissance-style mansion that was once owned by chewing-gum pioneer William Wrigley Jr., built between 1906 and 1914, and was donated to the City of Pasadena for its historical preservation, with the stipulation that they would use it as the “Tournament’s” permanent headquarters. The administrative staff for the Tournament of Roses occupies office space on the back side of the Wrigley Mansion, while still preserving and maintaining the main House. We have renovated the interiors of the main house and office several times over the years and have added additional office space to their existing office building. Planning for every parade starts the day after New Year’s Day. This process takes about 80,000 hours of combined manpower each year, and it takes all year to plan for the next parade. Scheduling of construction work and placement of personnel was always crucial, but schedules and deadlines were always met. It was always a pleasure working with the “Tournament,” an organization that always demanded the best.
